Nordics and naturals
As the 2020’s begin, the trend towards simpler and more mindful living continues with a strong move towards Nordic simplicity and modern rustic. Textures and colours reference the natural world and are often the raw, gritty and earthy. Forms are simpler and recall the craft pieces of the 1970’s, as do some of the geometric styles.
And it’s so easy to display – stick one or two of these vases on a windowsill or mantelpiece with a twig or some dried grasses in and you'll be bang up to date!
Beauty in the imperfections
Our favourite interiors brands at the moment are Broste, House Doctor and Bloomingville, masters of the modern scandi style. All of it mixes well both with reclaimed and mid-century furniture pieces but will sit happily with any contemporary style of décor. What it isn’t is perfect or polished, so pick up some simple old piece of furniture from a junk shop, paint it up, stick a few of these accessories on top and you will be right on trend with this look. It’s informal, natural and easy to live with.
